Call center needs restoration and cleaning

10/21/2019 (Permalink)

large room with cubicles Call centers never close. SERVPRO of Lawton worked in shifts to accommodate the businesses requirements.

Call centers never close. So when water damage struck this call center after a remodel, they called SERVPRO of Lawton.

Our team of highly trained technicians responded immediately and began extracting water from the wet areas.

They also documented the post construction cleaning that was needed, and we created two separate jobs to document each item thoroughly.

The "wet" team documented the size of the area they were extracting so they would know the exact number of air movers and dehumidifiers they would need.

The "cleaning" team set up containment between the two areas and also documented the size of the area and the level of cleaning required.

Both teams worked in shifts to accommodate the call center and their customers.

When this job was complete, the staff and employees were grateful they had a new, clean work area, and thanked us for working with them during this loss.

House fire leaves every room a mess

10/16/2019 (Permalink)

kitchen cabinets, dishes, appliances Soot and water damages kitchen after house fire

Yesterday's blog discussed three of the seven steps SERVPRO of Lawton takes to restore your home or business after it has suffered fire damage.

Today, we'll address the final four steps:

Step 4: Water Removal and Drying (if water damage is present)

The water removal process begins almost immediately and removes the majority of the water. We then use dehumidifiers and air movers to remove the remaining water and complete the drying process.

Step 5: Removal of Smoke and Soot from All Surfaces

We use specialized equipment and techniques to remove smoke and soot from ceilings, walls, and other surfaces.

Step 6: Cleaning and Sanitizing

We clean, sanitize, and disinfect all of the restorable items and structures that were damaged by the fire. We use a variety of cleaning techniques to restore your belongings to pre-fire condition. We’re also trained to remove odors using industrial air scrubbers and fogging equipment.

Step 7: Restoration

Restoration is the final step—getting your home or business to its pre-fire condition. Restoration may involve minor repairs, such as replacing drywall, painting, and installing new carpet; or it may entail major repairs such as the reconstruction of various areas or rooms in a home or business.

Fireplace fire causes extensive damage

10/15/2019 (Permalink)

fire damaged wall, chairs Fireplace fires are common in cold weather.

It's not just fire damage. It's smoke, soot, and even water from firefighting efforts.

And it means there's a lot of work to be done in order to restore your property.

At SERVPRO of Lawton, we break down the fire restoration process into 7 basic steps:

Step 1: Emergency Contact

The restoration process begins when you call us. Our representative will ask questions regarding the fire damage event that will help us respond immediately with the appropriate equipment and resources.

Step 2: Inspection and Fire Damage Assessment

We carefully inspect and test adjoining rooms of your property to determine the extent of the fire, smoke, and soot damage. This step is crucial to developing a plan of action.

Step 3: Immediate Board-Up and Roof-Tarp Service

Fire damage can often compromise windows, walls, and roofs. To maintain security and to protect against further damage, we can board up missing windows and walls and place tarps on damaged roofs.

We’ll document all damages digitally and provide the information to your agent and adjuster.

Is your pet ready for storms and disasters?

9/19/2019 (Permalink)

chihuahua with bandana What's good for you is good for your pet. Be Prepared, Not Scared of storm season.

September is National Preparedness month. You've checked your kits, and your insurance.

Is your pet ready?

During a disaster what’s good for you is good for your pet, so get them ready today.

If you leave your pets behind, they may be lost, injured – or worse. Never leave a pet chained outdoors. Plan options include:

  • Create a buddy system in case you’re not home. Ask a trusted neighbor to check on your animals.
  • Identify shelters. For public health reasons, many emergency shelters cannot accept pets.
    • Find pet friendly hotels along your evacuation route and keep a list in your pet’s emergency kit.
    • Locate boarding facilities or animal hospitals near your evacuation shelter.
    • Consider an out-of-town friend or relative
  • Locate a veterinarian or animal hospital in the area where you may be seeking temporary shelter, in case your pet needs medical care. Add the contact information to your emergency kit.
  • Have your pet microchipped and make sure that you not only keep your address and phone number up-to-date, but that you also include contact info for an emergency contact outside of your immediate area.
  • Call your local emergency management office, animal shelter or animal control office to get advice and information.
  • If you are unable to return to your home right away, you may need to board your pet. Find out where pet boarding facilities are located.
  • Most boarding kennels, veterinarians and animal shelters will need your pet's medical records to make sure all vaccinations are current.
  • If you have no alternative but to leave your pet at home, there are some precautions you must take, but remember that leaving your pet at home alone can place your animal in great danger!

Your SERVPRO of Lawton team of professionals is part of a national SERVPRO Disaster Recovery Team, and have helped hundreds of families recover from losses from hurricanes and localized flooding.

One key element you should have in place is a emergency response plan for your family.

This includes a plan for your pets, medications, lodging and emergency power.

This is very important for individuals who require electrical medical equipment. It's always best to have a backup power source for the short term while waiting on the power company to restore power.

Cleaning curtains is one of those household chores that people put off for years. The hassle of taking them down, finding a dry cleaner, then hanging them back up is more work than most of us have time for.

Did you know most curtains are made of woven fabrics that gather dust, pet hair, and dander — even mold spores?

Over time, these things accumulate, and your window treatments start to look dingy. Some fabrics require minimal care while others, like embroidered or brocade patterns with layers and linings, require professional cleaning.

SERVPRO of Lawton offers a variety of cleaning options for your home or business, including on-site cleaning to minimize interruption.

Whenever odors are present, germs are in the air, or you want to clean and purify the air, call SERVPRO of Lawton!

Why SERVPRO? Because bad odors, germs and unclean air don't stand a chance against our Photocatalytic Hydroxl Generator!

This high tech device safely removes odors, kills germs and cleans the air.

We recommend this treatment because it's ideal for use in apartment complexes, casinos, hospitals and commercial settings and can safely be used while your facility is occupied!

How does it work? UVA rays emitted from a TiO2 photocatalytic lamp pass through the anatase -coated reactor sleeve, forming electron hole pairs that react with H2O and O2 in the air. These form hydroxyl radicals that, when dispersed by a fan, decompose organic and inorganic gases and air pollutants into carbon dioxide and water.

Dust collected on top of air duct Exposed ducts attract dirt and dust.

While we love the visual appearance of exposed ducting, this industrial trend keeps a hidden secret: dirt and dust.

This commercial facility wanted a SERVPRO thorough cleaning. Our technicians arrived ready to battle all the dust bunnies and anything else the site could send our way.

As always, we start at the top (ceilings) and clean our way to the bottom (flooring).

One surprise? The exposed ducting had not been cleaned in years, leaving a heavy coating of dirt, dust, and lots of dust bunnies.
