Restoring the sanctuary before services
The past year has been hard on businesses. Many were forced to close due to the pandemic, or operate at reduced capacity.
Houses of worship were hit especially hard, as all were closed and unable to comfort their congregations.
As restrictions eased and church families were once again hoping to gather, some faced additional delays due to water damage.

Water damage did not affect communications

Searching for water leaks
You may not realize it, but not all water leaks are easy to trace.
When a large pool of water was discovered in the hallway, housekeeping was called in to clean it up.
Later that day, the water reappeared. So maintenance was called to locate the source. They checked all adjacent plumbing fixtures, the ceiling, and the HVAC system but could not find the leak.
As water continued to be a hazard in the hallway, the customer called SERVPRO of Lawton.
Our team arrived on site and again checked all the typical sources, but could not find a leak.
Utilizing our thermal camera, we detected a small wet spot on the fixed ceiling above the drop ceiling.
Next stop was the roof. After determining where the leak could be in relation to the hallway, our team found a roof drain that was not sealed and was indeed the cause of loss.
The right equipment, together with our expertise, resolved this water damage mystery.

We're all back to work, and back to business as usual.
Until this happens. Water pooling out from the wall and onto your clean carpet.

Water damage didn't interrupt this congregation
COVID-19 interrupted the lives, and businesses of people across the country.
Every public venue, like churches, were closed. Buildings were shuttered until they were allowed to reopen, often at reduced capacity.
And unused buildings didn't fare well once they were put back into use.
Like this church. Even though all utilities remained on, and the HVAC system maintained, the plumbing was not in a cooperative mood when the congregation returned.
The first weekend after services were held, a clean water line in the bathroom cracked, flooding one whole wing with water.
Thankfully the staff discovered it quickly and called SERVPRO of Lawton.
Our team responded quickly, inspected the damaged areas and began extracting water. Our secondary team removed baseboards and began setting up equipment.

Sewer leak closes local business

Sewage damaged flooring must be removed.
2020 has been a challenging year for businesses. Many closed due to COVID-19 concerns, and are slowly reopening their doors.
This local business had just reopened when another disaster struck: sewage waste bubbled up a floor drain and covered the entire facility.
The manager called SERVPRO of Lawton. She trusts us to clean and restore their various properties, and we're always here to help.
Our team was ready to begin the clean up and restoration process the moment the plumbers left.
Recently installed vinyl plank flooring was removed, as well as sheet rock and insulation. All contaminated and damaged furniture was carefully documented and removed, along with other items the staff determined was not needed.
Five days of demolition, cleaning and sanitizing were required to restore a healthy environment.
Today, all restoration has been completed, and all employees are back to work in their newly furnished spaces.

Vandals target school

Vandals left graffiti and other damage at this school.
We recently were called to a local school after officials discovered vandals had broken in and created a lot of damage.
They started by painting the security cameras, followed by the front windows of the auditorium.
Inside, we found spray paint in every room. On the glass trophy display cases. Blocking the mascots logo. On the piano. Even up on the lighting pad for the stage.
The vandals also found every fire extinguisher in the building and sprayed the entire auditorium.
No wall, no surface was left untouched.
What a mess! As you can see in the photo, the aisle between the seating areas is covered in the powder from the extinguishers.
And the walls are filled with graffiti.
It's a sad scene, and one we're all too familiar with.

Retail store suffers ceiling leak and sewage damage overnight

Wet shoe boxes are only a small portion of the damage this retailer experienced.
This retail store had a very difficult morning. The store manager walked in to severe water damage from a ceiling leak, and as she was headed to the supply room to retrieve the shop vac she stepped into sewage water.

Call center needs restoration and cleaning

Call centers never close. SERVPRO of Lawton worked in shifts to accommodate the businesses requirements.
Call centers never close. So when water damage struck this call center after a remodel, they called SERVPRO of Lawton.
Our team of highly trained technicians responded immediately and began extracting water from the wet areas.
They also documented the post construction cleaning that was needed, and we created two separate jobs to document each item thoroughly.
The "wet" team documented the size of the area they were extracting so they would know the exact number of air movers and dehumidifiers they would need.
The "cleaning" team set up containment between the two areas and also documented the size of the area and the level of cleaning required.
Both teams worked in shifts to accommodate the call center and their customers.
When this job was complete, the staff and employees were grateful they had a new, clean work area, and thanked us for working with them during this loss.

SERVPRO of Lawton recently completed a large scale restoration project in Lawton, OK where this truck mounted desiccant was utilized to help facilitate the drying process. The affected area was large and by employing the most modern technology we were able to save our customer both time and money.
